Needing More Bananas
After using a blender that blew fuses every time I used it the Waring MBB518 has become an valuable asset to our family. The only issue it has created is I can't keep enough bananas on hand to keep it going daily. This blender is improving my family's diet.
Weak
We owned this blender for a year and a couple months. Used it mainly on the weekends in the summer, to make smoothies with frozen fruit, so I wouldn't say we were heavy users. I burned the motor out today--the unit was visibly smoking after running for about a minute or so. This particular blender was a replacement for a previous Waring that lasted us over 10 years before it died (also from a burned out motor). Not sure if this blender was a dud or whether the quality of the Waring motors is getting worse. I'm going to send this one in for a fix or replacement since the motor is covered under a 5 year warranty.
DO NOT BUY - Horrible, Irresponsible Manufacturing of Blade Assembly
I got this in January 2009 and it broke in July 2009. It was probably used 25 times, of which 1/3 were frozen fruit smoothies, 1/3 were frozen cocktails (ice crushing), and 1/3 were 'wet blends' with little resistance.
The blender worked great and I had no problems with it. In fact, it was one of the best blenders I had used and in fact in some ways was better at blending than larger VitaMix blenders.
As background, I have blended hundreds of smoothies and so I am accustomed to operating blenders. If I needed to add a bit of water to chop ice, fine. If this blender's motor had burned out after 4 years I'd be upset, but would move on. However, this blender broke in a way that no product like this should ever break in 100 years of use.
The Details: The blade is 'screwed' in by something that looks like a metal screw but is definitely not stainless steel (it is made to look like brushed stainless steel, but it is not). Rather, it looks like some kind of composite metal/cement material with a brushed outside for looks.
I tried blending something and was surprised not to hear any sound. When I looked at it I discovered that the blade and top of the blade-screw had literally broken completely in half from the bottom of the blade-screw. The blade was 'floating' in the smoothie I was blending.
I could have easily poured this smoothie (thick) into a glass without seeing the blade and gotten it into my mouth, lips, or tongue and been badly cut.
I want to be clear, this design flaw is so bad that the engineers who designed and approved its use should be fired. You don't hold together a fast moving blade at 550 watts with a screw made of junk material.
I bought this unit at Bed Bath & Beyond expressly for the ability to use their long-term product return polic if needed. All I can say is that they get 5 stars for taking back this 1 star product.
I will never buy a Waring product again.

I'm crushed...
After a year of light usage - pureeing soups every now and then, nothing more - it just stopped working. I press the buttons, and they have no effect (and yes, I checked the outlets, checked to see if there was a reset button on the blender, etc. - all to no avail).
Save your money and put it elsewhere...

I bought this blender as a gift to my sister. She says it's great. Thanks for delivering it to her for me. She got it really fast, too!.
Junk
I am on my second Oster. It actually does a very decent job, except that it is next to impossible to use for any task more demanding than whipping a single milkshake. The first one I bought burned out after a month of use and was replaced. I am more careful with this one meaning I don't run it for more than 10 seconds, and stop the moment it starts smelling like burnt plastic, which arrives exactly then, at 10 seconds. The bottom plastic piece has cracked and is held together by epoxy. I certainly will not buy another Oster blender no matter how cheap and well-reviewed it is.

It's a small blender. If you have a blender, you have the same capability.
OK, I tried several different things with the magic bullet today, not being convinced it does everything it claims to do. Basically, this is a blender; It does things that an average blender does. But it's smaller than the average blender, and being smaller, the motor isn't as powerful.
Its claim to be a coffee grinder/juicer/food processor/blender/ice crusher all in one is not totally untrue, but the quality of the uses besides blending is not great. It does grind coffee, but not evenly; Some grounds will be coarser than others. It does make orange juice with the juicer attachment, but the yield was less than 1 cup for 3 oranges, vs. almost 2 cups using a regular juicer. And it's not powerful enough to make carrot juice like a regular juicer does. It does crush ice... EVENTUALLY. Technically it does grate cheese, if you like your cheese in microscopic pieces. And technically it does chop onions, if you like onion slush.
It did make smoothies, salsa, and hummus very well. That's what a blender is used for, and the Magic Bullet is essentially a blender. All the "10 second recipes" you see in the book, can be done in a blender. So if you've got a blender, you already have the same capability, and like I said, all the "extra features" this product boasts really aren't great.
Good cheap mixer
Amazon had the best price for this, bought it for a Christmas present. Haven't heard any complaints about it.
Do Not Buy
This is the worst gadget I have ever bought, the no name $10 chopper I have is better than this. Does not do anything it says it does.

We only used the blender once before it started leaking. It seems that the cheap blade housing cracked and started leaking. What a disapointment!! We had hopped that the Cuisinart was a quality blender, how wrong we were. Lucky for us we just made the 180 day cut off for goods return policy at Macy's.

Don't buy it!!!!!
I wish I didn't buy it, just stops working yesterday. I don't know what happened, there is no reason, I took care of it according to the label. Don't buy it!!!! I can't believe I gave 100 to this piece of junk!!!!Now my return window with Amazon has passed, and Cuisinart won't replace it. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More power but disappointed
This blender replaced a Hamilton Beach blender I bought almost 30 years ago. That blender never gave me any problems but I thought the motor was beginning to struggle a little and it seemed like a good time to get one with more power. The Cuisinart SB-5600 has that. Unfortunately, in the short time I have owned it I am close to spending as much in replacement parts as I did for the blender. The glass jar broke first. The Hamilton Beach had a glass jar...the same glass jar for almost 30 years. This one seems sturdy enough, and I know things happen, but another glass object barely touched it. Next, a average size frozen strawberry got wedged in somewhere, somehow, bent a blade on the cutter and stripped the threads on the piece that engages the drive clutch. Still waiting for that part to arrive in the mail. I expect the flimzy black part that the glass jar screws into to go next. Buying two of these may be a good idea. You could use one for parts.
The blender does have good power. It also has good noise, but so did the Hamilton Beach. It seems like a lower speed or a smaller container is needed. If its not full or if you are mixing something like a smoothy it seems to cavitate very easily, even on the lowest speed, which eliminates all cyclonic action. The high speed is all but unuseable unless your making a large smoothy for more than one or the contents is thin. Once you figure out what it likes it works great...unless its broke.

I personally did not buy this for myself, a friend of mine bought it when I placed an order, he has not used it yet so I cannot give an honest answer as to if it was liked or not. Sorry for not being able to review.

I would recommend this blender to anyone. It works really well and worth the money.
Not the Best
I got this blender because of the glowing reviews, however I must say that my experience has not been that great with it. It's fine for making drinks that have a lot of liquid in them, but once you start adding a decent amount of frozen items (e.g., fruit) it runs into problems. I use the blender primarily for making smoothies, and I generally prefer my smoothies on the thicker side. The issue I run into is that if you have a higher ratio of fruit than juice in the smoothie, the blender has a tendency to get "stuck" (meaning the contents cease to mix when the blender is on, and they have to be stirred by hand in order for the blender to start blending again). The "wave" feature is also apparently powerless to prevent this. It's annoying to constantly need to turn it off, give it a few good shakes or stirs, and then turn it back on; sometimes I will have to repeat this several times during the making of one smoothie. It seems that the blender is just not powerful enough for making (my) thick smoothies. I haven't tried blending ice with it, so I can't comment on it's performance in that area. If I had to do it over again, I probably wouldn't buy this particular blender, but as with most things, your mileage may vary.
